Keeping Clothes Out of Landfills

 

Did you know that about 93% of all textile waste diverted to recycling is successfully reclaimed, yet 85% goes directly to landfills?  I'm all about giving and receiving hand-me-downs but I never knew what to do with our tattered clothes.  We certainly have no use for so many rags.  I was always too embarrassed to donate clothes in such despicable condition to Goodwill.  

For anyone who may have felt the same way, be embarrassed no more.  Goodwill, The Charity Guide, The Vietnam's Veterans Association and  Salvation Army will gladly take your unwearable clothes and make sure they get properly recycled.  Check out this post from Eartheasy.

Where the Wild Things Are

 

Have you seen the movie--"Where the Wild Things Are"?  Henry, just picked it out of our local library.  I wasn't sure if he would like it, since it moves kind of slow but he was really into it.  It'a a cute story about a boy who runs away from home and sails across the sea to become a king of Where the Wild things Are.  Since most mother's have read this book to their kids, I'm guessing you already knew the plot of the movie.  Believe it or not, I never read this book to my children.  I suppose I judged the book by it's cover and thought it would scare them.  I'll have to pick it up from our library, the next we're there.

Social Media Revolution

Even though I am a contributer to this social media phenomenon, I'm still shocked by these statistics.  Check out this video by Socialnomics on YouTube.  You may want to lower the volume now since the music on the video can get a bit loud.

  

I have to be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about these statistics.  If we all have so much time to be part of this social media revolution then why are so many people still complaining about life being too busy?   Isn't it suppose to free up time?

Hmmm.  I think I'll write a letter to a friend and send it via snail mail this week. Then maybe I won't feel so bad about contributing to these statistics.
